NATIONAL ALLOTMENTS WEEK 10 – 16 AUGUST 2026

CELEBRATING GROVE ALLOTMENT GARDENS and ALL OUR WORK

This weekend we played our part in the National Allotment Society’s annual festival of allotments - National Allotments Week 2026 “Growing to Learn”.

On Saturday morning we hosted 10 visitors, informing two people interested in becoming Grove members and we networked with three other allotment associations. In the afternoon we had a new member join taking on one plot.

On Sunday afternoon we held our very first summer party. 34 members, family and friends along with 7 children came and enjoyed the pleasant afternoon sunshine, more normal August temperature and our joyful green space. Our social event, with the most amazing spread of food that everyone brought to share, demonstrated the spirit of our co-operative organisation.

As members of a co-operative society, we all benefit from our work on our own allotment plots and we all benefit from and depend on the strength of our collective effort. Sunday was hugely enjoyable and impressive in equal measure.
